The original LOST boarding pass invitation was designed on a fluke as a prank for the 2004 Season Premier of LOST on ABC only a few days prior to our big party which we had been planning for a few weeks.  After being introduced to the show after the conclusion of season 3, our group of friends promptly began catching up on all of the episodes on DVD every week.  We started with 2 episodes per night, then we all went haywire and eventually some of us ended up watching the entire season 3 DVD set in 3 days.

It was at that point that Carson and I started masterminding an epic party for the Season 4 Premier which would include a prop contest.  You can read more about that here.  Just a few days before the airing, I came up with an idea to create a fake, yet rather authentic looking boarding pass for Ocean Airlines custom tailored to our party, including an envelope with the Oceanic logo printed right where the return address normally sits.  I then printed the address of each attendee directly on the envelope and sent the invitations out via metered mail to make it look more official.

Nobody expected it, and everyone was completely taken by surprise that they had received what appeared to be a very real looking boarding pass.  It was a hit!  When I designed it, I also made it available to the public and since then it has become a very popular choice for all types of events.
